Ubuntu 7.04 and SE M600i bluetooth internet PAN

I was able to access internet over bluetooth (PAN) under WinXP using network bridgeing, but I was unable to get PAN working under Ubuntu. Although I managed to setup PAN connection manually using static IPs and browse web on my laptop, the pand dev-up script was never executed and I was unable to setup ip-forwarding.

After upgrading Ubuntu from 6.10 to 7.04 I tried again. This time I found excellent HOWTO for Debian based system. Using that HOWTO I was able to setup PAN internet from M600i to my x41 connected through WLAN connection.
To connect to WLAN I use Gnome NetworkManager. I also installed bluez-gnome and bluez-pin that allow bluetooth pairing with pin under Gnome.

I changed domain-name-servers in /etc/dhcp3/dhcpd.conf to 10.0.254.1, ip-to-dns-in-resolf.conf
In M600i add Bluetooth Internet PAN connection:
Control panel->Connections-> Internet Accounts

More->New account->Bluetooth Internet (PAN)

I also made Group for Bluetooth to force connection over bluetooth.

Keywords: Sony Ericsson, Bluetooth Internet, PAN, Personal Area Network, M600, P990, W950, Linux

    Congratulations for this topic.

    I understand that changes to 10.0.254.1…

    What is 10.0.254.1 ?
    - DNS
    - IP internet server
    - IP’s computer
